50th Birthday in Munich
We will be arriving in Munich on my 50th birthday! It looks like my birthday will be cut short due to the time change! Where is a fun place to go with a real German experience? I was thinking about the Hofbrauhaus. Good idea??

Not unless you like a whole lot of noisy people. Try the Peterhof, right on the Marienplatz: excellent food, wonderful breads (a whole basket of different types), homemade sauerkraut and mustard. My mouth waters just thinking about it.

Hofbräuhaus if you want a fake tourist experience with real noisy tourists from all over the world but hardly any Germans.
Have a Bavarian dinner at Spöckmeyer's (Sendlinger Straße, just round the corner from Marienplatz) and then find a beer garden (any, just not Hofbräuhaus) if the season and weather permits - you're not telling us when you'll be there.

I was there in July on my birthday. Someone told me about a restaurant called Wirthaus in der Au, which is on a small side street behind the museum island. We ate there for a typical German dinner on their patio. The food was wonderful! We enjoyed eating with the locals, out of the way. They have a website, but it is in German. Across the corner from the Hofbrauhaus is the Hard Rock Cafe too. Happy Birthday early!
