Late Thursday morning we ended up at Galleries Lafayette and went to the rooftop terrace. It was grey and cloudy but the view is still wonderful. I love the stained glass dome and would like to go on the Glasswalk in the dome but if I tried, I fear I would be crawling on all fours to get back. Now that would be embarrassing.
The Musee de la Liberation de Paris was next. I'm not sure I can find the right word to describe it. Some would be educational, inspiring, sad. We went down to the air raid shelter that was used as a command post by Colonel Roy-Tanguy, head of the French Resistance in the Paris area during the week of the Liberation. There is a bicycle powered generator that was used for power emergencies. It's 100 steps down into the shelter. The hundred back up is tougher. A bonus was a special exhibit about the making of the movie "Is Paris Burning." If you are interested in the Resistance, the Occupation and Paris during the war it's a must see.
