A day in Paris help

A friend and I are staying for 9 days in Barcelona. Since this is enough time to see everything we wanted to see, we figured we would take a day trip to somewhere else (first flight in, last flight out). Our first thought: Paris.

Questions:
1. Where should we go? What are the must sees & dos of Paris?

2. What is the best way to get to the city from the airport?

3. If you were us, would you do Paris? If not, where would you go?

Any recommendations welcomed! Thank you!!

No, if I were you I would not go to Paris from Barcelona for only one day.

Why? Because you have seriously underestimated the time it takes to travel by air, city center to city center.

@Sarastro Thank you for your response. Where would you go then? Madrid via train?

Absolutely not Paris. The little time you'll have there doesn't worth the flight cost and all the check in/security line etc.

Go to somewhere that the total transportation time one way is 3h maximum. Madrid is doable but still too far away. You can take a look at this list of day trips from Barcelona, among them my favorite is Figueres, the birth town of Salvador Dalí:

The small city of Girona is about an hour north by train. Scenic, lots of history and significant buildings, upmarket boutiques, nice for strolling, and with a bunch of ambitious restaurants that hold a basket of Michelin stars. http://www.girona.cat/turisme/eng/activitats.php

another lovely place to visit would be Valencia - just down the coast on the train.

however there is so much to do and see there that it's really worth a trip in itself.

FF has given you a great list on the website she linked - quite enough to keep you busy.

I agree with all the others who replied. It is not a good idea to go to Paris for a day with air travel etc.
I have been to Barcelona for 7 days and still I thought I needed more time.
I ma sure there are some sight you want to see or some special restaurant you want to go to or just simply hangout in Barcelona with their wonderful coffee/wine.

Regards,

Sankar
