Wonderful photo report, thank you! I really enjoy Northern Italy and have been to most of the places you visited, but not Vicenza or Lake Como (nor Parma). Did you have a favorite location? And did Bellagio seem too "resort-y" to you?
[I know "too resort-y" is subjective, but I've always avoided the lakes for fear they would be too...something.]

Very helpful and interesting report! And beautiful photos! I admire you for traveling solo and for driving in a foreign country! I do all the planning and my husband does all the driving.
Can you please give me the names of the hotels you stayed at in Milan, Venice, and Bologna? Thank you!

In Bologna,I stayed at this apartment: https://www.vrbo.com/10198323ha?unit...2Bhasc%2Bemail
I stayed at the Westin in Milan using Marriott points. Lovey hotel and service. It’s pretty close to the train station and a half block from the hop on/hop off bus so easy to get around. I used that as my main method of transportation as it was convenient and much cheaper than taking a taxi all the time. And I was able to see all the sites using it! Not sure how cost effective it would be for a couple as a main use of transportation but great for getting to various sites around the city.. Check it out.
In Venice, I stayed at the Hilton Molino Stuckey, a gorgeous hotel and service! Again, I used points for my stay.
I’m sure you will have a wonderful trip!

Hi Joanne,
Just revisiting this lovely trip report! Thank you again for so many details and recommendations.
I like your itinerary and would love to see most, if not all, of these towns. We will stay for two weeks in a town in the Veneto region and two weeks in Emilia-Romagna. We will take day trips from our two bases. Do you have a favorite town in each region? We love charming pedestrian market towns with lovely shops and cafes where we can soak up the culture at a slower pace.
Thank you!

Hard to pick but I’d probably pick Bologna and Verona. Both are great towns and can easily be used as a base to other locations.
