Age Restrictions for Hotels in Oia (Santorini)???

It is true that hotels in Oia, such as Perivolas , offering the unique Caldera view (Volcano & Sea view) do not accept children under 16 yrs old, due to location of the complexes?

I have been looking for verification of this and cannot find it. I have also e-mailed Perivolas and they haven't responded yet. Just curious.

I don't know about that particular hotel, but usually when hotels don't accept children the reason is their clientele, not location. There are hotels that cater honeymooners and "up-market" adults looking for peace and quiet and romantic surroundings, and they want to be able to reassure those people that they find just that in the hotel.

I've never heard of any hotel in Oia having an age restriction. Sun Rocks in Firostephani does, but I'm pretty sure nothing in Oia makes that distinction. I did a Google search looking for "couples only" hotels on Santorini, and Sun Rocks was the only one that came up.

Be patient, someone will eventually answer your email. You could also try emailing some of the booking agents that deal with Perivolas and ask them, but I think you'll find that the answer is, "children are permitted".

By the way, Perivolas is a wonderful choice.

I was looking at other hotels in the area recently and noticed that Katikies doesn't accept children under 13. They say it is because they dont have the facilities for them but I expect it is a health and safety issue. These hotels are all built into steep cliffs with numerous outdoor stairs and long drops off the cliffs. I think they are more romantic hotels anyway and probably not somewhere the kids would have fun.

Thanks for all the responses.

I just received a reponse from Perivolas and they make expections. They normally do not take reservations for parties with children under 16.

BTW I was informed by a travel agent that they do not accept children under 16 which led to my question.

As we are celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary - I think this is a wonderful hotel to splurge on!
