Maybe I'm off base here but we are threatening a war that France is opposed to...maybe they don't want their planes on US soil in times when the US is on high alert. How many flights were cancelled?

Just out of curiosity AAFF, what research did you have privy to.

I have checked other Wed. flights 2/27,3/12,3/19. None are cancelled!
Only 3/5, JFI Air France never did call!

Well things are in place but it makes you wonder how long they would have waited to call!!
Thanks again for all the help

Sorry EyeSpy.

The Canadian government has decided to stop hemorrhaging money into Air Canada, our national carrier.

They must find their own way to become profitable.

They are starting to cut routes and times.

It is sink or swim time for airlines, be they national carriers or not.

ICITHECAT: Did you read my post carefully? Have you read anything in the French papers about Air France's "going bankrupt"? No. Because it is not. It is cutting costs exactly because the French government is not going to continue pumping money into it and has already implemented selling its shares on the Paris Bourse. If a flight is cancelled, it is probably because the airline is trying to cut costs and be profitable. The problem in France with privatising the state-held corporations is the backlash of strikes by the workers. It's always been that way in France. Your reply is comparing apples to oranges.

pj,
WOW, what can I say. Yesterday I looked at all Feb and Mar Wednesdays flights on SABRE, and they were all cancelled. Today only 2 Wednesdays flights are cancelled 2/19 and yours on 3/5. I can't explained it, other then possibly it is a preventive move for a possible strike. It is widely reported that the pilots union is threating to walk out on 2/20 for 3 days, but I did not hear anything for early March.
Well, all is well that ends well, at least you are all set.
Weird, but an often occurance in the travel world. Still, AF should have called you, unless they already reserved a seat for you on the flights I've mentioned above, but since you cancelled your original flight the automatic re-booking was cancelled as well, IF it was made in the first place.
Have a great trip!!!
