Airports in Brussels

My daughter is flying into Brussels and out to Kigali, Rwanda. The return the same route. On her way home after a 2 month visit, she wants to travel in France. She's found a flight on Ryan Air but it's at an airport I'm not familiar with. Have you ever gone from one airport to the other in Brussels and is there public transport? Easy? Distance? And she's looking for an inexpensive/hostel to stay. Any ideas would be appreciated. Tks!

Hi

There is only one Brussels airport. It is at Zaventem.

The so-called Brussels South used by Ryanair is actually in Charleroi which is probably closer to France than it is to Brussels. Check out the location in an atlas.

The Ryanair site gives details of transport to Brussels.

Your daughter can take the Airport City Express (train) to Brussels Midi (Zuid) which takes about half an hour. From there she can take the Ryanair shuttle directly to the airport of Brussels South (which is in fact Charleroi, 50 km south of Brussels) - journey is one hour. Exact location & time table can be found on the Ryanair website.
As far as hotel is concerned, I would advise her NOT to stay in Charleroi since it's not the safest city in Belgium.

Thanks for all your help. She just got a hostel in Brussels so she can get over her jetlag on each leg of the trip. Then she'll try Ryan Air to Carcassone. Her first experience with the airlines.

If she is going to Carcassonne she needs to check out The Languedoc Page
