Anyone been to ristorante la tagliata in positano?

Thinking about doing our rehearsal dinner here the night before our wedding. Wanted something nice but, low key. Is there a lot of food to choose from?

Hi there -- Congrats on your upcoming wedding! We just celebrated our first anniversary at La Tagliata in July. It's actually in Montepertuso, the town above Positano. The food is wonderful and the views of Positano and the sea below are amazing. The ride isn't short - probably 20ish minutes, but it's definitely a place to linger and enjoy an evening. They are best known for their grilled meat selection, but have a nice selection of pastas, as well. Our favorite part of the meal was the "mixed cakes" plate for dessert... very good. Anyhow, I'm rambling, so to get to the point, I don't think you can go wrong here. Good luck and enjoy! - Heather.

We were there in 2003 and loved it. They will send a car for you. We just told the owner to take care of us, and we had about 9 different "courses". My husband had the steak, and it was cooked right beside our table over a wood fire. Everything was delicious, and the view just made it perfect.

Mc - La Tagliata is one of my favourite restaurants on the Amalfi Coast.

Oh - and the views stretch as far as the 'Faraglioni,' Capri ...

If it's good enough for Gerhard Schroeder it's good enough for me ...

I have eaten at La Tagliata numerous times, and think it would make a very special place for a rehearsal dinner. The main reason I think so is that much of what is served is grown, and/or raised, right there in the property, which makes for a special experience.

Please know that there is an abundance of meat served, in case any in your party are strictly vegetarian. But they also prepare dleicious fish dishes, and I'm sure they will serve good vegetable contorni as well, because they have a wonderful vegetabel garden, so everything will be fresh.

The poster marty has a good point- if you ask them to "take care of you" they'll come up with a wonderful dining experience. The atmoshere is also fairly casual, and yes, Schroeder ate there.

mcwedding,

Let me join in the raves about La
Tagliata!

Our group of 10 had a memorable dinner there last year, and the restaurant did indeed "take care of us." Big platters of delicious food kept appearing on the table, and so did the wine.

When we raved about the pasta, the owner brought Mama out from the kitchen for us to applaud.

I can't think of a more delightful place for a rehearsal dinner. The rustic atmosphere, huge grill loaded with juicy meats, and spectacular view will make for an unforgettable evening.

We had a great dinner there. Get the Torta della Nonna for dessert!

I noticed when we were there that they did have some tables where people were getting their meal "family style". It appeared they were locals. This might be fun for your group so you can all try a bunch of different things. Just an idea. I would see if your hotel can contact the restaurant directly for you and make the arrangements a few weeks before you go. My hotel helped us with a lot for our wedding in Positano.
