I've only flown Malev from zurich-budapest and budapest-skopje. The latter flights were on Russian-made Tupelovs [sp.?] All 4 flights were fine. The plane decoration wasn't spiffy, but the service was good. I have heard that their long haul flights are fine too. Just remember kijarat means exit!

hi, I've flown Malev several times, had no problem with communication or anything (maybe because I speak Hungarian ? :]) Flight attendants are required to speak English, German or both depending on the route. Haven't noticed any major difference compared to other airlines. Yes kijarat means exit, but I think they'll have 'EXIT' written as well. By the way their website is www.malev.hu. (.hu not .com)
hope this helps, lindi

Hi Merriem - I realize now that this reply comes too late but here was my experience on Malev anyway. I flew the JFK to Budapest flight last year. The airline uses comfortable Boeing 767-200 ER aircraft. I found the flight to be comfortable and the level of service comparable to most other airlines. English language was not a problem either. One feature I liked (as you doubtless saw) was the inflight tracker on the screen which shows you what your flight location is at all times as well as providing other usefull info. The airport (Ferihegy) and the surrounding area was not particularly impressive at all. Very flat terrain with modest buildings, etc. I enjoyed Budapest though. How was your trip?

Budapest was indeed great! I wasn't thrilled with Malev, as once we finally got on the plane....they didn't call rows, so it was a massive crush getting on the 767. Also, the crew bus driver was smoking a cigarette 50 feet from the airplane...might just be a bit of a safety issue there. The food was good. However, on your flight were most of the passengers walking around all the time. It seemed like no one could sit down for more than 10 minutes. Thanks for the response.

I flew Malev from Budapest to JFK. I didn't know it at the time I was ticketed but they are a Delta affiliate. I thought I was to fly on Delta but it was Malev. I didn't find it to be too different from other airlines from my recollection.
Ellen
