Maybe Fodor's think it isn't their problem, and they don't have tech personnel to figure out other people's systems and computers (which is very hard to do).

I'm no computer expert, so if a lot of people are having problems, there must be some connection to something on Fodors -- however, all I can see is I have never had any of these problems you are reporting, and I have two different ISPs and home and work, and several different browsers on these machines (IE, Firefox, AOL and Netscape), and have never had any of these problems that you all are having at any time with any of those browsers or ISPs.

So, it can't really be a Fodors problem, can it? Maybe someone who is an expert on this stuff can respond to that idea.

I use internet explorer and I'm having this problem. BUt.... if you left click while pointing to the 'cut off' part of the page and drag down, the search boxes will appear! It's strange but it works.

sammyc, I tried your suggestion but it didn't work for me. Where exactly do you point?

Fodors, this is really annoying. Do you even care that this is a problem? Maybe we should write to your advertisers. If I can't use search, I won't see their ads.

In the Fodorite Lounge the Editor addressed this issue and asked Fodorites to post their problems or lack of problems. So you might want to go to the Lounge and post on that thread. Best regards.

Thanks loveitaly. Do you have a link? Since I can't search, I don't know how to find the post. I has already dropped off the first page. I think they should post it in each forum. I never go to the lounge.

By the way, I appreciated some of your posts when I was planning my Italy trip last September. Thanks so much for being part of the Fodors world.

sdtravels:
You point to the cut off part of the top page, where it says "search this forum". Once pointed, you DRAG that top cut off page DOWN by a little. The top page will automatically go up a little, enabling you to type in and do searches.
This IS annoying though....hope fodors fix this soon.

I have had Foror's e-mailing me back and forth several times lately asking for information, but so far nothing seems to help. I even took a snapshot of the screen with "Snagit" and e-mailed it to them. I can access "change forum", but "Europe" is cut off, and "post a message" does not show at all. When I need to ask a question, I've been jumping in on someone else's nickel. Hope none of you mind that too much. I have a trip planned for September, 2007.

I never had a problem at work, but at home the search and post new messages disappeared after we installed McAfee. We uninstalled it and everything came back. Reinstalled it, boxes disappeared again.

DH had to spend some time w/McAfee on the phone, they showed him a setting to change to make it all appear again and it has been fine since then.

I can't "grab" a piece to drag down! I use firefox but I also have problems with ie, both at home but not at work. Not even if I access work via VPN from home. Recently Fodors told me they are trying to work with Comcast. Seems alot of us with issues are started when Comcast bought out others.

My DH says we have McAfee too and guess what, it came with Comcast. Could you please get your DH to post exactly what he did? It would save me time in talking to McAfee too. Thanks!!!! By the way, even though we live in GA, my DH is from WI. I am a converted CheeseHead. Love the state! Thanks Mucho!

Mmm. I have McAfee at home too. Mind you, I've had it for years. Mind you, I think there was a recent upgrade.

Dear Cheesehead, can you PLEASE get your husband to enlighten us....

Drat. He cannot remember off the top of his head. He thinks he needs to sit down at the computer to look and he is out of town for work.

He will look when he comes home to see if he can remember what he did - sorry for the delay!

BTW, he DOES remember that McAfee was trying to charge him technical time to get this resolved and he about blew a gasket. That call took forever. He then got a c/b from another dept and they had it fixed in 5 min.

SO SORRY SD! I twisted the thumb screws and put him under a bright light, but DH does not remember what settings they had him change.

He just was clicking along as the tech guy told him to and did not really pay attention to what he did.

Good Luck!
