Barcelona hotels in October

I once got to Barcelona in early October ( 6 years ago). Checked the available hotels from the airport, no free rooms!

The taxi driver called his central through the radio, and got us a room at Hotel Gran Via. Lousy location, I must say, on the western section of the city.

Since then, I have never got to Barcelona again without booking a room in advance.

Barcelona itself deserves at least three days. So much to see there. Sigh...

Surlok

Yes, I am sorry but Barcelona can be easily fully booked , some hotels, particullarly those belonging to chains, have a cancelation policy that allows sameday cancelation by 4 ,or 6 PM. Get one of those.
Two days in Seville and 2 in Barcelona, are you sure you want this? Choose one...

Know this is an old post BUT we have plans to stay at the Gran Via hotel in Barcelona. Doing some surfing and see Surlock says its in a lousy location whereas I booked it cuz it's supposed to be a great location? Anyone know the real scoop on this? And I'm not going in October-I'm going in May!

It's a great location. A little up from the Ramblas and close to the nicest shopping & restaurant district in the city...Placa del Cayuna, is the name I think but don't quote me! It's been a few years since I've been! Loved the hotel, sur the rooms are a little shabby but the common areas are fabulous! Enjoy!

Sheesh!!! I wrote this post a long ago, but just in case, it's never too late to correct. I wanted to mean "Via Augusta", not Gran Via. They are far apart, Gran Via being in fact, a good location, although I haven't stayed there yet.
