Hello Mandavilla,
We have sons about the same age. I think you're on the right thought with Rothenberg. It's one of the oldest orignal towns in Germany, with its own stone wall surround the town. Also, there is an old museum that gets to the teens, it's medieval torture stuff. Also, there's a Christmas museum that popular year round. The only problem with Garmisch is that there isn't much snow right now. In some ways that is good for the hikes. The "Neuschwanstein" castle is nice to look at, but the one to go inside, is the Schloss Linderhof. Everyone I've spoken to have always enjoyed this castle best. You must go inside it, to get the full affect. Also, there's Berchtesgaden, 11 mi south of Salzburg, just above Austria. This is where Eagle Nest is, Hitler's famous hideaway retreat. Also in this town is a salt mine, where's you can take a train into or slide into, the website is...www.salzwelt.de Enjoy! good luck and have fun! |
We have stayed at the Fraundorfer twice- last summer and about 10 years ago. It is a nice family run inn. They have a restaurant with entertainment in the evening. It is not the fanciest place, but it is clean, and the family who owns it will do everything to they can to make your stay enjoyable. We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite in the back building on our last stay.

Thanks for the itinerary suggestions, and please let us know if you have any additional ideas. Very helpful comments!
Also, we appreciate knowing that Fraundorfer is a clean, good place to stay. The entertainment sounded like great fun, and a 2 bedroom suite would be perfect. Again, thanks, and please keep us posted of additional ideas! THANKS! Mandavilla |
