Best Time

Considering a trip to Croatia next year - haven't even decided where in Croatia, but I am wondering if late summer or possibly fall (September, with a potential to lag into October) is a good time to visit.

That's when we did it and it was nice. If you're going to Dubrovnik (and you should) check to see when the cruise boats stop and go thereafter. They spoil the little gem of a city by dumping out way too many people.

Do see Croatia - it is astounding. September/October in my opinion is the best time of the year to go. Autumn harvest is wonderful as you get to taste the wonderful fruits, veg, wines and truffles. The weather is lovely and warm enough to swim. It is also less busy than summer.

There are so many things to love about Croatia. The history, people, culture, sea, coast, scenery, little towns, food, breathtaking parks, etc. are all fabulous. You just would not believe the stupendous views

My husband and I fell in love with Croatia so much we are planning to move there in the future!

Thank you both for your replies. Will definitely try to time our visit for when cruise ships are not in port. Glad to hear that early fall is good as that is likely when we'll be going.

If you want to check when the mega cruisers are in port, there is a wonderful website. Just enter the city and check the months you may wish to visit.

This site does not include many of the European ships, but the 3,000 plus are shown. Take notice of Dubrovnik, most of them are here on Saturday and some on Sunday. Plan your time here during midweek.

Please come and spend some time here, the beauty of the Dalmatian coast took my heart and soul in 1971. I couldn't stop returning and finally I decided to make my home in Dubrovnik, "The Pearl of the Adratic."
