bullfighting madrid

My son has expressed interest in seeing a bullfight when we are in Madrid on June 6. I am confused as to what is scheduled on this date. What is the best website to check this on? The Las Ventas site first indicated that there was a bullfight with horses? Then another time I looked it seemed to say something else. I know this topic tends to bring upset some people here. I just want to answer my son"s question. Thanks

The bullfights scheduled for 6 June follow the San Isidro celebration, Carteles de la Feria del Aniversario 2010, a Rejoneo, bullfighting from horseback, but the cartel hasn't been set as yet. You can check www.ticktackticket.com for available tickets, once the cartel has been announced. You can also visit www.bullfightticketsmadrid.com to select your tickets.

Not to be rude or condescending, but Sol means you will sit in the sun, hence the lower price than Sombra which are seats in the shade.

Robert - thanks for the info. As the San Isidro celebration is going on while we are in Madrid, do I need to get tickets in advance or can we pick them up when we get there?

Also, don't know your son's age, but if I remember well you must be eighteen to attend a bullfight. (Even if I'm wrong, you might want to think about that.)

No, anyone can attend a bullfight, but it's not something I would recommend if it is not part of your culture.

Buying tickets will depend on which day you plan on attending the bullfights. Some are far more popular than others, but sol seats should be available on the day of the bullfight under most circumstances.

The "Rejoneadores" bullfights are spectacularly done from horseback. If you can choose, I would see this one.

I agree that the Rejoneadores can be exciting, especially if Pablo Hermoso de Mendoza is on the cartel (http://portaltaurino.com/rejoneadores/p_hermoso.htm). He's the best in the business, and of course he's from Navarra (www.pablohermoso.net).

He's currently scheduled to be in Granada on 2 June and in the south of France starting 19 June, which leaves 6 June open to possibilities.

Fra Diavolo - thanks for your concern. My son will be 23 next week

Lincasnova and Robert - thanks for your advise. We were unformiliar with the existance of a rejoneadores. I guess we have some research to do.

I can't even imagine why anyone would want to see an animal tortured to death. Disgusting.

Amen letsgo---I can't either. I am surprised this custom still exists--but of course, it brings in lots of money--so that is probably why. It is truly disgusting.

Don’t you just love it? There's always someone floating around out there in the reified ether willing to pass judgment. Where would we be without them?
