Bus travel Brussels - Brugge?

I will be travelling to Brugge from Brussels, and thought I might try taking the bus instead of the train in order to see more of the countryside. Can anyone offer information as to the condition of the buses, how often they run, ball park fares, time the journey takes, etc?
Thanks.

I don't know if this will be helpful, but I lived in Belgium for a year and I took the train to almost wherever I went. I don't even know if there is a bus service between Brussels and Bruges (I've never heard of one, except for the Eurolines buses which I think have some services that stop in Bruges on their way to Britain), but I doubt that you will see more of the countryside that way anyway (and you might end up in a traffic jam instead... . Train rides are generally cheap, though I can't remember the exact price, or time, Brussels - Bruges.

If you want to see the countryside, maybe it's better to rent a bike in for example Bruges or a smaller town, and see the country that way? The Belgian railway has a bike rental service but I think you need to book ahead.

what would make you think you would see more of the countryside on a bus as opposed to a train?

Actually, you'll probably see less, as the bus will probably stick to the autoroute (is it an "autoroute in northern Belgium--somebody please correct me). That's like interstate highway travel--you'll see little. (I personally think autoXXXXs/interstate routes are chosen for their boredom factor.) Trains are always better, and usually quicker too.

As much as I like Belgium, I'd have to say that the countryside between Brussels and Brugge is not particularly exciting. I've done that trip by train and by highway -- neither is all that exciting, but the train is quick and easy.
