Cannes or Nice Train Station luggage storage?
Hi. Does anyone know if there is currently a place to store luggage for a few hours in either the Cannes or Nice train stations? Either in self-serve lockers or a manned storage room.
We were planning on storing our luggage for a full afternoon in early August, before taking a night train on to Strasbourg, but have just heard that many train stations don't offer this service anymore due to heightened security. If not we may change our plans and travel on a daytrain instead. Have tried emailing voyages-scnf, but haven't heard anything back yet. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry if I was unclear - we don't want to leave our luggage behind when we move on, we just wish to store it for around 5-7 hours, giving us a chance to explore Cannes or Nice luggage-free before picking it up again to board our night train. We'll be driving to one of those 2 cities to return our rental car and catch the train, and thought it would be safer to store our luggage for some hours at the train station, rather than have them locked in the trunk of the car. Does that sound right? (assuming any storage options are available at either station.)

according to the SNCF, French rail there is no luggage storeage in either station. Nice is a surprise in that similar important stations have them.
Was this way recently at least but check so see if reinstated.
Operation Vigipirate, to fight terrorist bombings, has been in effect many years now and resulted in all train station left luggage facilities being shuttered except in a few main stations with airport-like screening devices.

Thanks PalenQ. I also just received a reply back from SNCF (finally) repeating what you said: that due to Vigipirate (anti-terrorist) all French train stations have closed both luggage storage services and lockers, with the exception of Paris which has anti-explosive systems. This does throw a kink in the plans, but definitely better to know ahead of time than to find out while there! I'm going to now compose a different post to discuss other options....

some key stations outside of paris like bordeaux and nantes apparently have luggage storage and i'm shocked that Nice does not - perhaps it's because this station appears very cramped on space.
There could be an alternative storage facility nearby.
