Carry-on luggage question?

Just purchased a nice piece of carry-on luggage by "Skyway" for my up-coming Paris trip. The dimentions are 23"-15"-9". I think this may be slightly oversized, but can i get away with it? Flying Continental.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Pete, If you are flying first class you have a better chance. I don't know about coach, but if you are also flying a European airline, their standards are smaller than 22". I think it is 18 or 19". Is yoru bag softsided? My daughter smashed a duffel bag into the box her bag had to fit in and she argued that she got it in there, so they let it go.

My present carry-on is 21-13-9 and never had a problem carrying it onto my Continental flights. I've seen businessmen with somewhat larger bags as carry-ons.
Continental has installed oversized overhead bins on all their aircraft so I don't think you'll have any problem with your carry-on luggage.

I had one your size, loved it, used it both in this country and internationally, until Sept. 11th and since then since I leave from a subsidiary airport (smaller planes), they don't allow it any longer as a carryon, about an inch or two too large and they have REALLY gotten strict on it, so I have had to downsize so I can't see these folks who are still insisting on not checking anything and taking all in their carryon, they almost have to exceed the size limits or weight limits which internationally are really enforced. All you can is try it and truely, each incident or airport is a little different. Good luck

Have fun going through security. Probably just better to check it.

By adding the three sides, your bag is 47". My airline permits up to 45". With today's regulations, you are probably over. Calling a Continental office should help with your question(s).
Jason is right about most Continental planes having the overhead bins that will accomodate rollaboards going straight in--4 to a compartment. However you will be subjected to a minute search and no clippers, knives, etc. And if they find anything like that you will have to put your shoes through, and undergo many other security checks.
We have ones that are expandable and would meet the standards when compressed but it no longer seems to be advantageous. Our luggage always arrives quickly in Paris.
