Central Portugal and Port
After Lisbon we want to stay in Central Portugal as a base for at least one night to have enough time (not on tour) to explore some old cities/towns such as Nazarre, Coimbra, Obidos, and Avveiro. Am wondering where best place to roost would be. Also Heading to Porto and Douro Valley and wonder if two or three nights is sufficent to do wine tour, boat ride (don't know if they have this time of year) and sightsee Porto. I read one comment that if it rains there is nothing to do in Porto but that sounded stupid. Our dates are 1/27 through 2/8 with Lisbon for 4-5 nights with sides to Sintra and Cascais (and Lagos) and open after that. I considered Evora too but that is inland.

Only one night suggests that all you will see is one or two towns. Coimbra is large enough to take up all your time. If you are driving, you could see Obidos, Alcobaça or Batalha on the way from Lisbon to Coimbra.
