Central Otley has cobbles (it's north of Leeds in Yorkshire) in the market area and they were relain (relayed??) last year with some super adhesive and flexible mortar which actually seems to be working.

Manchester has lots of cobbled streets - genuine, old ones, that seem appropriate in the world's first industrialised city. Manchester is the most visited city in England by foreign visitors after London and Fodorite's are missing out. One of our cobbled streets is so good that it's on people's lists of things to visit and I take any friends and family who have'n't been here before - to tell though would be to spoil to fun and the surprise of it.

Coronation Street isnt genuine - I cant recall any cobble streets in Manchester, unless they are around Ancoats. I am astonished that Manchester is the second most visited City, even more than York? Perhaps it includes people visiting for business reasons. Manchester isnt a place I would recommend visiting.

lol....good job that visitors appreciate Manchester more than you do Steve. There are loads of cobbled streets in Conservation Areas across Greater Manchester, not just in Ancoats. Yep, more overseas residents' visits than York, which is 15th in UK. Bath is 10th and Oxford 6th. Top of the list is Edinburgh. You're right though, it does include business visits. It's all on the Office for National Statistics website and it only breaks down visits into 'holiday', 'business', 'visiting friends or relatives' or 'other' by county. Even then though Greater Manchester has more holiday visits than North Yorkshire, but fewer than Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Oxfordshire.
