Cordoba/Granada/Sevilla
Where (2 adults & 2 teens) thinking of visiting Spain next year (never been), specifically this area. How much time is necessary in each of these towns? Are any of them a day trip away from the other? We would probably rent a car (which we've done in Europe before) to get around the area.
The most time we could spend is 9 days. We'd also like to wind up in Madrid. Is this doable? Any recs on Hotels that accommodate 4 (between $150 - $250)in any of these places? Any preferred parts of the town to stay?
Thanks.

I essentially did this trip. I spent two weeks but I did a couple of more day trips and only used public transportation. I think you could do it in 9 days. Cordoba is an easy day trip by train from Seville. Granada is a little farther but might be doable as a day trip by car. You might also want to consider spending a night or two there. It kind of depends on your interests. I enjoyed my whole trip but especially loved Seville and Madrid. If you click on my screen name I think you might be able to scan the posts for my trip report. Has info on hotels. Have fun!

I also did a trip similar to this recently. I spent 2 nights each in Sevilla and Granada, and 5 nights in Madrid. I could easily have taken a night away from Madrid and added it to Sevilla and went to Cordoba as a day trip from Sevilla.
I would actually suggest just using public transportation and not bother with renting a car. It's easy and fairly inexpensive.

The popular trip involving these towns is to Arrive Madrid and ctch the AVE [high sped train] to Sevilla [ a little less than 3 hours]. Spend a couple days there including one day as day trip to Cordoba [45 min]. Then rent a car in Seville [train station] and drive to Ronda for one night, on to Granada for a couple of nights and then drive on up to Madrid for the rest of the stay. If it were me, I'd turn the car in as soon as I arrived in Madrid [in fact, I'd probably turn it in at the airport and then take cab to hotel downtown].
