Cotswolds car service

We are looking for a car service or cab to get us from the Moreton in Marsh train station to our hotel on Stow on the Wold . We will only be in the Cotswolds for a couple of days so car rental is not really an option for us . Any suggestions ?

Moreton in Marsh has a relatively active train station but there is no taxi rank. You can call a taxi when you arrive (or pre-book it if you know your times)

Here is one. But there are others and all will have their numbers posted at the station. Moreton in Marsh Taxis, Cotswold Taxis Airports Private Hire.

Ask your hotel in Stow on the Wold to arrange a taxi for you.

Meant to add - a couple of days in the Cotswolds could DEFINITELY warrant a rental car. In fact I would argue that for a short visit, a car is more necessary than for a longer stay.

Are you coming down from London? If so instead of a train to Moreton-in-Marsh, renting a car from LHR and driving to Stow-on-the-Wold could be more efficient . . . of course depending on your plans while in the Cotswolds. If you are just staying in S-o-t-W with maybe quick jaunts to Bourton-on-the-Water and/or the Slaughters and/or the Swells -- no need for a car. But if you plan on exploring farther afield you really would want a car.

We used Les Proctor Taxi Services to transfer us from Moreton-in-Marsh to Chipping Campden when we walked the Cotswold Way in May. You can pre-book him at 01386 841 307‬.

What are you doing in the Cotswolds so you don’t need a car? Just a few walks?

We have 2.5 days in the Cotswolds - the half day will be spent in and around S-O-T-W . One day we plan to take the bus to Bourton on the water and walk to the Slaughters. The second day we were thinking of getting to Broadway and walking to Snowshill - not sure if Stanton is doable too .

OK -- That is an EXTREMELY ambitious 2-day itinerary by public transport Are you sure you don't want to rent a car??

There is no direct bus from S-o-t-W to Broadway -- it would mean 2 or 3 buses and take between 1.25 and 2 hours. Whereas with a car it is an easy 20 miniute drive. Then from Snowshill you'd be walking the 1+ hour back to Broadway and the trek back to S-o-t-W. Again -- driving from Snowshill to S-o-t-W will take 15-20 minutes. A car would make things soooooooooo much easier.

Stanton is great -- The Mount Inn pub has views to die for. I honestly cannot imagine trying to go there without a car. And even with a car it is first and second gear territory going up that hill.

. . . IF you were staying 5 or 6+ days, taking your time and leisurely bus rides can be wonderful. But with just 2 full days you can fit much more and still have time for a few great walks if you drive.
