Yes they are always worth it in early October - France rarely gets cold until much later and there is also the house filled with artifacts and a beutiful village that is alwasy quaint - be sure to check out the village graveyard where Monet still hangs out.
Most of the flowers may have gone but the loutuses still on the pond - anyway this gives a run-down of what to expect in October.

There will be dahlias! we went at that time of year and found it very enjoyable. Be sure to pre-purchase your ticket on-line - even in Oct. there was a line at general admission that you can skip if you already have tickets.
