Directions for CDG airport terminal 1 to terminal 2

I just found out that I need to get from terminal 1 (British Airways) to terminal 2 (Air France) at the CDG airport. How easy is this and is there any kind of shuttle service between the two? How much time do we need to allot for the connection? Thanks for your assistance.

Darlene:
I hope this can be of some help. If I remember the RER has a stop at Terminal 1 and 2. The cost should be minimal and I would think you would not require more than 30 minutes.

I would also think that you could take a taxi from one to the other.

The British Airways people may be able to tell you when you arrive at CDG and maybe they know another way to make the connection.

There's a complimentary shuttle available at Roissy-CDG, to transport in transit passengers from terminal to terminal. I found it, though, to be very confusing . I couldn't figure out where to leave the bus, and the french people who were on the bus weren't of any help. I asked, and was told that my stop was right there, and it wasn't. I had to take another bus to get to the right terminal, and I do speak a little French. I was loaded with luggage, since I had to change my flight, and the hassle of loading luggage, unloading it and then doing it again to another bus did stress me out.

Besides, there are so many flights landing and taking off from CDG that very often luggage get lost there.

I don't know if I'd make it again. Since then, I've avoided CDG if I'm not staying in Paris, or leaving from Paris, or at least, I avoid if if I have to change terminals.

Taking a taxi would be easier, but it's such a short ride that I don't know if the taxi drivers would make it, or if they do, how much they would charge you. Heathrow, although being as much as large, is much better organized. I haven't had a problem changing terminals there.

Sorry if I couldn't be of any help,

Surlok

Here's the link for ADP (the English version doesn't show Terminal 2 map, so stick with the French)
http://www.adp.fr/webadp/a_cont01.nsf/$$Affich?ReadForm&cle=X500520524

For more info, including a map of the shuttle route:
http://www.smartweb.fr/aero/roissy/index.html

Nice info, Elvira, but honestly, the map with the shuttle route wouldn't have helped me to find out where to drop off.

Surlok

That's why the ADP site, Surlok; it shows the shuttle bus departure area, as well as "vers terminal 2" if you want to hoof it.

I got the "right" shuttle bus, Elvira, this is not hard to find out. The problem was that I left before terminal 2. As there weren't clear signs on route, it was hard to figure out where to drop off. And this isn't clearly pointed out on the map, too. The shuttle stops a few times, it doesn't take you straight to terminal 2.

Surlok

I wish I could help you out, Surlok, but other than telling you to read the airport signs and use the route map to give you an overview and general direction of the shuttle, there's not much else.

Being a paranoid obsessive compulsive, I get all that sort of information waaaay ahead and don't leave it to chance.

Thanks, Elvira,

It's not me that is in need of help now, but Darlene. I hope she is now much better informed than she was before.

Anyway, I'll always skip CDG-Roissy as an airport to connecting my flights. It's, in my view ( and I've flown a lot), the most difficult airport to get any info, unless from the computers they have available there, not only because the signs are not always available, or clearly made, but also because people who work there are the most unhelpful I've ever met, unless for the Brussels' airport, but then this is smaller and easier to navigate. Madrid is also a pain in the ...ss, but also, not being so big, and with fewer planes taking off, is not so bad.

A last warning to Darlene: allow yourself at least two hours and a half between flights, otherwise, you'd be risking to miss your connection.

Surlok

Darlene:

Take the shuttle bus from the lower level of terminal 1, door 28. I would allow a minimum of two hours from the time you get to the shuttle. They run every 20 minutes, I believe.
