If you mean Largo Argentina - it's right in central Rome, 5 mins walk from Piazza Venezia.

Torre Argentina is located at the intersection of Via Arenula and Corso Vittorio Emanuele.
Get on Via Del Corso and head toward Piazza Venezia, make a left on Corso Vittorio Emanuele, go down a couple blocks and it's across the street on your left.
From the Spanish step it's maybe a 30 min. walk, you can always cab it too.
Here's a site of it that you may like.

Never heard of such a thing. That is so cool. On romancats, they have a tour of cultural & cat things in Italy. Unfortunately I could not download the brochure. Says it is a pdf but site address is a pdm or somesuch. Send the site to all my cat friends. Thanks.

In guidebooks and/or maps the excavations where the sanctuary is located is sometimes called 'Area Sacra' or 'The 4 Republican (Victory) Temples'.
http://wings.buffalo.edu/AandL/Maece..._contents.html click-on the last photo link (Temple D), in that far corner behind that wall-like structure is the entrance and sanctuary HQ.
Unless things have changed recently it's a pretty cool story .
They are actually squatters.
Years ago an archaeologist working on the site gave them a key on the sly so they could enter and help the cats.
And they slowly just moved in that corner and beneath the sidewalk.
A couple of times a year a government official comes down and gives them an eviction notice, which is then ignored by both them and the government . Behind 'Temple B' is where Julius Caesar was assassinated.
I have written a Julius Caesar Assassination walking tour that has info on this site. It's too long to post (12pages) but if you or anyone wants a copy just e-mail me, put ROME in the subject line. Regards Walter
p.s. There was also a cat sanctuary at the 'Pyramid of Gaius Cestius' which I assume is still there. It's right outside the Piramide metro station and it's the 1st Pyramid on the left .

We were in Rome at the end of May and the Cat Sanctuary was great! I was worried I would be sad going there, but the cats have so much room and such caring volunteers. I would recommend going during the open hours 12 - 6 pm, so you can play with the cats. I think that is the best thing you can do to help the cats (besides donations!) Enjoy the cats and Rome!
