Distance question re Florence?

I am trying to plan a day walking tour of Florence and since we have limited time I am trying to decide whether to drive from Pienza or San G. for the day. We will be staying in both several days. If we go from San G. it will be a Sunday and from Pienza a Saturday. Any advice would be appreciated. What would be the easiest drive?

I would go to Florence on a Saturday. Sunday tends to be iffy on things being open or how long they're open. I spent a month there studying Italian. I don't know what month you're going, but in August a lot of stores and restaurants are closed. Museums and churches are open.

From what I can tell when i was in Florence and Rome, most restaurants and shops are closed on Sunday.

On sundays you will find a few shops closed but since Florence is a touristic city most shops will be open. As for restaurants, a restaurant owner won't likely close on sunday when he can make lots of money!!!
