Does anyone have the latest Donna Leon to hand? Hotel recommendation needed!

I read in the latest Donna Leon novel (Blood from a stone) a recommendation for a hotel in Venice near the Danieli, looking over towards Giudecca. I think the name began with a P.

Unfortunately I gave away my copy without writing the name down, and can't find a copy to check in any of the bookshops I've looked in recently (I assume it must be about to appear in paperback or something).

I'd really like to try to book this hotel for our next trip to Venice - Commissario Brunetti seems to have very good taste so I'd trust the recommendation - so if anyone is reading the book at the moment, please could you have a look at the map on the inside cover where I believe the name is marked? Many thanks to anyone who can fulfil this somewhat bizarre request!

Haven't read any of the Donna Leon novels, but perhaps the hotel is the Paganelli?

I thought it was called something like Paganini, so Paganelli is most likely right. Thank you!

Holly is right: Hotel Paganelli.

Amazon.com now has a "search inside" feature, and the Hotel Paganelli appears on pages 21 and 35 of the book.

But as I recall it, there is no way it can "look over towards Giudecca." It looks over at San Giorgio Maggiore, yes, but not at Giudecca.

Well, that's still looking "toward" Guidecca!

Yes, but then also "towards" Croatia and/or Slovenia!

No, that would be looking from the Fondamenta Nuove.

No, Fondamenta Nuove looks out into the enclosed lagoon. From the Riva degli Schiavoni, one looks "towards" San Giorgio Maggiore, "towards" the Lido behind it, and then "towards" Croatia/Slovenia.

All right everyone..I checked the hotel web reguarding the hotel location, and here are some info..

"The hotel is situated in part of the famous ancient convent of St. Zaccaria, and some of the rooms still have the original ceilings, which have been carefully renovated.

The rooms, all with bathroom, air conditioning, satellite TV, direct telephone, hair dryer and safe, are furnished in typical Venetian style.
Some of the rooms overlook the St. Mark's basin, some Campo St. Zaccaria, and the quieter rooms overlook the internal courtyard and garden.

BTW, I really enjoy reading Donna Leon series..

papagena -- it is definitely the Paganelli. I have read the book and stayed at the hotel. It is a great little hotel, and if you get a room on the front, you get the Danieli view without the Danieli pricetag.

I stumbled upon the Paganelli years ago when it was a 2-star establishment. I couldn't believe it when I saw it in Donna Leon's latest book. Of course, I felt that she was revealing my little secret. Ssshhh ... don't tell anyone else -- it's a small hotel.
