Dublin airport layover - time to see some of Dublin?
I am still searching 'reasonable' flights to Italy for June. Found a semi-reasonable flight on Continental/Air Lingus. Good news - direct flight home Rome-NY. Bad news - 6 and a half hour layover in Dublin on the way over. I've never been to Ireland so am wondering if that layover would allow us to go into the city for some sightseeing or at least a bit of pub-sitting? Thanks for all the good advice I am getting so far!

With 6 hours, I would say that Dublin is not a good option, but the beautiful town of Malahide, just few miles from the airport is IMHO. Few old pubs, some great restaurants and even a honest to goodness castle, although I'm not sure you'll have time for that.

You will have time to go into the city for a *brief* visit. To save time, buy a one-day Rambler pass (E5.00) which will allow you to take the Airlink bus to and from the city as well as any rides you wish within the city. Allow extra time to get back to the airport, especially if it's during rush hour.
