Europe Forum is Getting Too Large
Because of the volume of postings on the Europe forum, it is hard to find topics of interest or answer questions because the posts travel down so quickly. I have emailed Fodor's asking if they would consider breaking up the Europe forum into individual countries. Do others agree?

This gets asked every few months - No!!!!
Between the multi-country itineraries and general interest questions (like car hires, trains, airport transfers, etc) it would be just toooo difficult . . . . .

No, no, no ;-)
You have to understand people use the forum in different ways. I can answer questions about Amsterdam, Vevey & Montreux, Venice, and Paris only. but I'm not even planning a trip at the moment, so would not read thru a bunch of individual forums for each country.
Packed~~ If you want to see how you idea would work, go to the Trip Advisor forum website (not the hotel review section), theirs is extremely fragmented. It works OK for them, that said, I don't even look at the Europe destination forums over there.

I'm sorry, but I disagree that because the "posts travel down so quickly" (for you) that the whole format should be changed.
The speed varies from day to day and time to time.
You just need to move a little faster in order to keep up.

"<i>How about a general Europe category and then separate country categories?</i>"
That essentially is what we have now - click on a country and you will get a large % of the threads about that country (though not all).
This format is better than any other travel board I've tried . . . . .

Actually, if you wanted to "break it up" yourself, you can simply do a search at the top of the page with no text and select the specific country of interest.
I agree that the forum should remain as is.

Don't change it. I rarely click on a country and search just one country's topics, and I don't want to have to go through a dozen different countries' separate lists of posts. Meanwhile I agree that a great many posts cover a range of countries. How would anyone know where to look or where to put them?
But this is a good time to remind people that more specific titles including a country and/or city would be very helpful for those who don't want to have to open every post to see what it is about.

I'll add my no. Other sites use that type of layout and they aren't as succesful or active as a result. I can answer question about 10-15 countries, but I wouldn't see them if I had to click on each country.

Definitely no!
The pleasure of this board is the opportunity to skim through a wide range of posts, and choose what you want to read about. It's like a smorgasbord, looking for a little while on one, then "tasting" another for a little while. And you never know what will be the entertaining or interesting post for the day.
And as others have pointed out, you can always select a country and call up posts related to that one place. This board works well and shouldn't be changed.

I was just thinking recently that I wouldn't like this format changed.
And here comes packed with the idea.
No, I don't want any change to this forum. I just cannot follow up a forum like Frommers or Thorn Tree. I always come back to this one.

Absolutely NOT! Learn to use the search box if you're interested in only one country.
I've always been amazed by how well the Fodors website was designed: split screen, searchable by country and/or topic or poster, etc.

I was just now over at Frommers and on the various destination forums I picked to test this (Hawaii, Seattle, Mexico) the posts were over two MONTHS old & I hadn't even make it past the first 50!
