Feedback re: "Irish Car Rentals"

Can anyone offer feedback (positive or negative) regarding "Irish Car Rentals" of Limerick. Their rates are considerably cheaper than a major US outfit like Hertz, but I'm not familiar with them. Thanks in advance.

I've rented from Autoeurope this past May and they seemed to give the best rate over all the other agencies. They hooked me up with Europcar. I used my platinum M/C to waive the CDW insurance. Called M/C to get a letter confirmation faxed to me as proof when accepting the rental car.

9 days rental, including sales tax, for a 4-door compact cost $203.00

Hi mahoney:

Car rental in Ireland is one of the most frequently discussed topics in here partially because it's so expensive (esp. insurance) and partially because it's just confusing. You need to compare apples to apples here. At a quick glance, it appears that they have a pretty good deal and you'll need to check to make sure that you have a gold or platinum MC to cover CDW. Their price includes basic CDW with a E700 deductible. It's E9.50 a day to reduce that to E100. You can't reduce it to 0.

Speaking of Hertz, try O'Scannlain.com for prices too. They are having a 30% off sale right now on Hertz rentals.

I used 12travel.com. They're based in Cork and VERY responsive. They had the lowest rates of all I checked (including AutoEurope). I picked up at the Hertz locale at Dublin airport, took it to Northern Ireland and returned it to Dublin.

I've used them twice, most recently this past June. They are a consolidator, generally using Sixt as their service provider. They gave me no real grief about using the MC waiver, didn't burn me at the other end, etc.
If the price is right, I'll use them again.

I've only had one rental car experience in Ireland, and it was very similar to the one Budman described above. I used AutoEurope, which translated to Europcar at Shannon Airport; about US$125 for a 2 door compact (Nissan Micra) for 7 days. They accepted my M/C platinum in lieu of CDW, with a letter from the credit card company that I obtained prior to our trip. No problems--they were great to deal with.

I've used irishcarrentals a few times and they were great. The pick up was at Dan Dooleys and they were cheaper than Dan Dooley. If I remember correctly, you have to pre-pay for the car, so make sure you bring all receipts with you to show it's been paid for already.
