Florence - Hotel Alessandra or Hotel Casci?

My husband & I are traveling to Florence in September but are deciding between Hotel Casci and Hotel Alessandra. Can anyone give us recommendations? We're traveling to Venice afterwards - so may need to tighten our budget for Florence hotels. HELP!

My husband and I stayed at the hotel Casci last month. We just loved it! The hotel is close to the Duomo, and easy walking distance to other sites. The hotel staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms have a/c, are extremely clean, and tastefully decorated. We decided to stay here after seeing favorable posts on this web site. You may want to do a search on this hotel for other opinions.
Ciao!

don't know the Alessandra, but Cacsi is great. we spent only one night there but found it so relaxing and comfortable. A very friendly family runs it and it seems to attract very friendly travellers. Did you check room availabiliy. Casci generally books up well in advance. Where are you staying in Venice? We stayed at the FLora. It was lovely. The most charming place we stayed in Italy.

I don't know the Casci, mostly because I have stayed at Pensione Allesandra five times in a row. The location on Borgo SS. Apostoli is perfect, the prices are not too high, and the family who run it now know me--but I think they treat everyone well. They have real single rooms, an advantage for someone like me who likes to travel alone sometimes. They have big bathtubs. They are next to a really wonderful ancient church in P. del Limbo which has a bell that wakes one gently. Disadvantages: The coffee is surprisingly bad. There is a lift, but first you have to go up one floor to get to it, and it is tiny. The front rooms sometimes reverberate with the roar of motoclicletti--but they were planning to install more soundproofed windows. There is a bell...

Another vote for the Casci, but as noted above it is a popular hotel and a September booking may not be possible. We stayed there in May and it was like visiting family, but I booked months in advance. Good luck--hope you can get a reservation--you won't be disappointed.

j
