I booked by phone a few days ago.

They gave me a reservation number for each museum.

More than once I have had my hotel make these ticket reservations for me, as wanderful mentioned above, with no markup. The hotel provided me a confirmation, and gave me the ticket confirmation number on hotel stationery. We walked up to the museum ticket window, presented the confirmation slip, and purchased our tickets.

I meant to add, even if the hotel had wanted to add on a fee, this was arranged via email between me and the hotel, and so I saved the price and timing of the phone call anyway.

Anyone considering asking their hotel to book reservations should read this thread.

agree that you should clarify with the hotel as to the nature of any additional fees they may be tacking on.

kybourbon: I went to the url you suggested. The problem was that if you go to a small, family owned local hotel without a concierge, you won't run into those problems. When you go to the 4 and 5 star hotels (which I have mentioned in many other posts) you will have the hand out (palm up) constantly with many extra charges.

We always go to the small family owned type hotels and always ask them to get us tickets to various places and have NEVER been charged extra. I repeat from other posts....you get better, more caring, cheaper service from the smaller hotels.
