Frankfurt to Rothenberg.
Hello.
In mid-October we (married American couple in our 30's) will be getting an early start from Frankfurt and heading to Rothenburg along the Romantic Road. I believe we'd like to stop to look around in Wurzburg. Any other best places to stop along the way? We don't need to arrive in Rothenburg too early, we'd just like to get there in time for a nice dinner and walking around the ramparts, and the streets, etc. Any suggestions for stops/things to do along the route?
Our hotel in Rothenburg is Hotel Gasthof Goldener Griefen and I'm interested in eating at Zorr Holl. Opinions?
Thanks!

Romantic road is hardly romantic but a busy highway with some neat towns along it - I suggest taking castle-studded Castle Road instead between Heidelberg and Rothenburg - very scenic route - really Romantic Road is boring and busy.
The Castle Road ? A romantic trail of castles

We were in Rothenburg for a few days this past fall and loved it! We stayed at the Spitzweg (fantastic!!!), but did have a lunch at the place you are staying. Good lunch out on the patio. Our best dinner of the trip was at Zur Holl though. Definitely make reservations! Allow time to walk the walks of the town, and do the Night Watchman Tour, so plan dinner around that. Go to the top of the tower if you have time. The views are great from up there, and the way up is interesting in itself.
