Glad you enjoyed my report and that it was useful to you, Weadles.
We didn't stay in a place to remember in Prague. It was a common pension, nothing great about it. It was OK, but I wouldn't stay there again.

Hi Caroline, I gotta say that I did notice a big difference between the southern part of Germany, which we visited in 2006, and the eastern part.
In Munich and other places in Bavaria (and even in Baden-Wurttemberg), we felt like among Latins somehow, as the Bavarians liked to party and enjoy the time in their beer gardens with the joyous atmosphere there.
This time, while in Berlin and Dresden, we noticed a stark contrast, and I don't mean it in a bad way. We didn't notice the abundance of beer gardens and the beer party atmosphere that goes so well down south.
Berlin and Dresden are something else entirely. A totally different experience. While in Bavaria we felt more like being among Latins, well, we didn't feel the same this time in the East.
Dresden looked like having more of a party atmosphere, though not as intense as Munich.
We liked Germany very much and our holidays there in 2006 and 2007 are among our best.

Hi Gabriel - that's very interesting, thank you. In Germany I've only been to Berlin (and a party in Cologne about 20 years ago !) so I wouldn't have thought of different parts of Germany having a different feel. And I suppose we've only been in March & April, so there wasn't much going on outdoors anyway.
