Good place to eat in Benalmadena/ La Carihuela

We will be staying in Torremuelle for 2 nts in Sep. Anyone have any suggestions for a nice restaurant or tapas bar - just a down-to-earth place with good food in the area - Benalmadena, Benalmadena Pueblo, Arroyo de la Miel, La Carihuela? With only 2 days and so many tourists around, we don't want to spoil the end of our vacation with a crap meal. We will have a car. Thanks in advance.

Strangely, we had an excellent meal in the gourmet restaurant of Torrequebrada Hotel for most reasonable prices.

I did not like the hotel, but dinner was the best we had in all Andalucia.

Our impression was that this restaurant is a favorite dining spot for the natives - because it is just the opposite of "down-to-earth".

Benalmadena Pueblo has a very nice restaurant called Casa Fidel and there is a cooking school there as well. It is La Fonda. I have heard Ventorilla de la Perra in Arroyo is excellent and pricey. Valparaiso on the road to Mijas has a good reputation.

I see you request a restaurant/tapas bar. The Benalmadena restaurant La Fonda, which is the Hostelery School where best professional come out, is a good option, but is a "serious" restaurant with a very nice and friendly ambience, and many local non-spaniards customers. Reservation mandatory at 952 568 625.
I use to go to make a splurge, with cocktails, wines, two courses and desserts, 50 eur person, excellent quality.

Josele is quite correct about La Fonda but you also said "nice restaurant." Casa Fidel is "nice" as well and I would still call for reservation rather than arrive and be disappointed. By the way, there are a lot of good restaurants on the beach in the Carihuela section of Torremolinos as well as on the Bajondillo and Playamar sides. I like Los pescadores and El Yate but there are many, many others.
