I would like to ask if there are not too expensive & yet comfortable,clean hotels in zurich, with airconditioning too, as i have a 1 yr old. i am just stopping over 1 night in zurich as i could not get a connecting flight back to my country. Also, can I ask for a recommended one day zurich itinery? Have not been to Zurich before so would like some suggestions. Thanks.

If you want to get out of the city of Zurich, I suggest either Luzern (an hour by train) or Rapperswil (about 30 minutes by train).

We had stopover in Zurich a couple of years ago and stayed at the Movenpick Regensdorf. There is a shuttle from the airport and return that's free. It is next door to a shopping center and with a 1 yr old it might be a good idea. there was a supermarket in the shopping center also and we bought lunch at the salad buffet for a fraction of the hotel prices. It was a very good experience. There bkfast buffet is great also. we enjoyed the hotel so much that we're staying at the Movenpick Berlin late Sept. I don't recall the room rates but it has a/c etc. It's a 4* hotel. They have a website www.Movenpick.com We were in Zurich a couple of years before and found it good for a day. Enjoy

I have stayed several times at the Welcome Inn in Kloten. Free shuttle bus to/from the airport. Short walk to the train station to go into Zurich. Hotel is not glamorous but functional and modern with decent restaurant, nice staff. Never a problem. The town of Kloten is interesting to walk around in.

I'd love to offer my favorite hotel in Zurich, but I have no idea what you mean by "not too expensive". When I see "confortable and clean" I suspect you mean really cheap. Care to give a price you had in mind?

Good morning, our favorite hotel in Zurich which we have used many times is the HOTEL KINDLI, Pfalzgasse, 1.
It is located about one block off the
Bahnhofstrasse and about a ten min walk from the Bahnhof, suggest taking a taxi...It is a small but warm hotel and also is in a quiet location, plenty of ristorantes such as
Churrasco, China Restaurant , Bindella and Cantinetta Antinori very close by.
for a one day Zurich would consider shopping on the Bahnhofstrasse, not missing the toy shop Franz Carl Weber
located at Bahnhofstrasse, 62 and also
the Confiserie Splungli at Paradeplatz.
If the weather permits might suggest taking a boat trip trip from the dock at the end of the Bahnhofstrasse for a round trip to Raperswill and return, lunch aboard. Shopping in two department type stores of St. Annahof and Gemoli, close to Webers...Richard of LaGrange Park, Il..

Yep really try to stay in the old town section cause that is where all the fun stuff is. I stayed at the Alexander and it was just fine w/ a great AC unit. In fact it was the only cold room I had the entire month I spent in Switzerland!!! The boat cruise to Rappersvill and beyond is really fun, easy and a delight. Walking about is very safe and there are plenty of cafes everywhere. Enjoy!!

My goodness, vedette, I've never heard anyone say that Kloten was an interesting place to visit. I never even thought of it. Can you elaborate? I usually stay my last night in Bulach, also a 15 minute busride from the flughafen. Thanks, J.
