Greek Island Honeymoon Ideas....Please Help!

Hi All,
My fiance and I are just starting to figure out where to go for our honeymoon. The greek islands are on the list. Our honeymoon will be in October 2011. We are looking for that ultimate relaxation, swimming, beach, beautiful views...etc. We both have never been to the greek islands and dont even know if October is a good month to go or not?? Would love any input on luxury resorts and islands to see.
Thanks!

The islands can get windy in October and the nights a bit chilly, and the tourist infrastructure will have begun shutting down for the off-season. It's best if you go at the beginning of October instead of towards the end of the month.

Get yourselves a copy of T. Cook's "Greek Island Hopping" so you can make an informed decision based on what appeals to you the most. You can also use the tripadvisor.com Greece forum for more information about any particular island and hotel reviews. If you ask for hotel recommendations be sure to mention your travel dates, amenities required and your maximum daily room budget, preferably in euro.

We found that restaurants were starting to close in the islands in October.

Congratulations on your forthcoming wedding!

If you like it quiet, early October is a very nice time to go to the Greek Islands. On the smaller islands most things shut down at the beginning of October, but the season is longer on Mykonos, Santorini, and large islands such as Rhodes and Crete. The water will still be warm enough for swimming, and weather still good, but not as dependable as summer. Light jackets and sweaters should be on your packing list.

Ferry timetables will have reverted to their winter schedules, so many island connections available in summer will not be possible. Keep it simple by sticking to the main ferry routes or flying to/from the islands, but be aware that inter-island flights, with a few exceptions, don't exist.

We were in Chania in Crete and Hydra in early to mid October and it was quiet but not dead. Things were starting to close for the end of the season and restaurants were pretty quiet. The weather was still sunny and warm but not really swimming weather - well not for us anyway.

Santorini is stunning and has some wonderful places to stay. Mykonos is very picturesque but I haven't experienced these two very popular islands in October, they may be very quiet.
