Has anyone ever had a flight cancelled by Expedia after it was booked?

Last night, after checking at least 2x daily for RT flights to Rome from Philadelphia, I found RT for $547 in May. I first found it on Orbitz, but wasn't able to book it. I kept getting a message that the price had changed. I scrambled to some of the other search engines and found it again. I quickly booked it on Expedia before it was gone. It seemed to go through ok, I received a confirmation number and an email with my itinerary. It all seemed too good to be true. Then I noticed the small writing on my email stating the flights have not been confirmed by the airline. Do you think the price could have been a mistake, and it was all too good to be true?

Go to the airline website and enter your record locator number to see if it's there.

Contact the airline - as the others said. Try not to worry. Same thing happened when we booked a wedding vacation to Vegas for 6 people. I noticed that small print too (I still don't get it) but everything was booked properly.

ANy website you buy a flight through that is not the airline itself will say that, they can't be confirming flights on their own with you hitting buttons on their website. So that is what they all say, but you should get a confirmation shortly. I haven't used Expedia in several years, so don't remember how long it takes to get that confirmation.

Expedia is merely a booking agent---always check with the carrier.

I went on to Expedias website where you check on the status of your booking, and it is confirmed. Hopefully the flight is not rescheduled, what a nightmare that would be considering the arrangements we need to make ahead of time.

Thanks for your suggestions.
