Help me decide on a Paris apartment!
Thank you for all your help getting me to this point - now I have to make a decision! (My prior post re: France For Rent is moot - the apartments I was interested in are booked). After much research, I think I have it narrowed down to these apartments:
7th: http://www.vrbo.com/120200
http://www.vrbo.com/80453
6th: http://www.vrbo.com/18044
4th: http://www.vrbo.com/113901
We (2 adults and 9 year old child) will be visiting in July of 2008. All of these apartments have received good reviews, and the owners/managers have been very prompt and friendly in answering my questions. They all look wonderful from the pictures, and the locations seem great. I just can't decide which one to choose! If any of you have any suggestions on which one we should choose (or eliminate) I would really appreciate it!
Merci

All of your choices look nice and I bet they are. The apartment in the 4th looks very nice. The 7th is nice, but a bit more residential so there is less going on at night, if that is a consideration.
I stayed at a hotel near the exact location of the apartment in the 6th, it is a nice neighborhood and as they say in the description, it is close enough to St. Germain and the Latin Quarter, but it is far enough away from the Latin Quarter to avoid the tourist hordes.
If you are near Kayser bakery you will have some of the best croissants if not best in the city!
I do love the Marais and I think the last apartment actually looks the nicest.

I like the first one in the 7th or the last one in the Marais. They all looked nice and I can't comment too much on the locations other than they would all work (I'm not real familiar with Paris as some here are).
I like the idea that the first and the last ones have two baths. I know you are only three people and one is only 9 years old, but two bathrooms seems so much better for getting ready in the morning. Just my opinion.
Have a wonderful time in Paris!

That one in the 4th looks nice, but the owner is being a little duplicitous as it appears to have two bathrooms but only one toilet. I guess they would say well, we never promised you a bathroom would have a toilet! (which is true, but who would think to ask). That's not my idea of luxury, but maybe that's what you get for 300 euro a day now in rental apartments (and no AC, either, and you are going in July). It looks okay, but the size of the place seems to be missing, also. I wouldn't pay 300 euro for that.
We've discussed the one in the 6th several times on here before. I'm sure you could find it just by doing a search on chartreux, as that's a pretty unique name as far as these posts go. I like it a lot, but the location isn't really as convenient to metro and some other things that some people might want (even me). It's south of Luxembourg Gardens not too far from Port Royal RER stop amongst some institutional buildings (mainly university, I think). I like the apt. though.

Wow, I love the one in the 4th. It's very elegant. As bianca points out, though, if there's no A/C it could be problematic.
I know you've selected these four, and you can just ignore me if you want to...but for the same $, have you looked at parisvacationapartments.com, the 2 bedroom on the Palais Royale? It looks like it's available for most of July, the pricing is in dollars (so even if the $ sinks you're ok), and it a killer location and apartment.
Whatever you decide, have a wonderful time!

I think I would choose the one in the 6th, as it is near the Jardin du Luxembourg and easy connections. How wonderful to be able to take morning walks in the gardens! Dalloyau, a very nice tearoom, is located across from the gardens at 2 place Edmond Rostand.

Thank you everyone for your great responses - I really appreciate it. Rhy - there is a link at the bottom of the page to email the owners. They have all been very prompt in getting back to me. Iwan2go - I had started out looking at those apartments, and for some reason I thought they were booked. Now that I see one is available, it opens up another possibility . . .
I'll keep you posted when I finally make my decision! Thanks

I checked out parisvacationapartments, and they were booked (even though it appears from their website that they were available). So, I'm back to my original list, plus this one I found:
http://www.vrbo.com/50751
Does anyone know anything about this apartment or the rental company, Paris Address?
Thank you!
p.s. Whoever figured out the pagesjaunes website exists is a genius ; )

Thank you all for your help. The family voted, and the first one in the 7th won. It was the air conditioning, elevator, proximity to metro and view that won the day!
I'll write a review when we return. All the reviews I read here were extremely helpful.
Merci!

Hi Guys!
We have the apartment reserved for the middle of July - I will definitely write a review when we return. So far, Pascal has been great to work with. After we leave this apartment, we go to London to stay in one there for a week. I rented through LondonPerfect, and they have been wonderful too. I'll review that one as well.
Thanks!
