Help with England / Wales itinerary
In September we will be spending about 10 days in the UK. We have been a few times before so this trip would like to visit : Stonehenge, the south, Wales and the Lincoln area ( a bit of genealogy ) We'll have a rental car but would like a fairly leisurely pace. Is this a reasonable amount to do in 10 days ?

700 miles of driving, Stonehenge and Avebury will take a day (plus the time you need to recover from the flight)
Lincoln - no idea how long it'll take but assume 2 days.
that leaves a week less travel time between Lincoln & Wales and Lincoln and London. So doable
I would however suggest you reverse the route so that you get your genealogy out of the way so you can change plans easily and add / subtract from your itinerary.

I realize 10 days is not a lot of time but we just came back from a longer trip to Vietnam and Cambodia so the UK will be our second trip this year. Really we would just like to get a taste of Wales and it may be best to see one part rather than trying to do too much. Still we would like to visit Stonehenge and spend maybe 2 days in Lincolnshire. We'll be arriving at Heathrow. It's hard to get a sense of distances and to know what part of Wales to visit. Mainly we like small towns and lovely countryside and would be happy to stay away from any cities. Thanks for you help so far and any further tips will be appreciated.

If it were me - I'd stay the first night in Windsor. You don't want to be driving far (or at all) right after an over night flight.
Then you can head to Avebury/Stonehenge and Salisbury on day 2.
From there you have 8 days to see a bit of Wales, Lincolnshire and back to LHR. I would plan on 4 days in the Welsh/English borders and north Wales. Then across to Loncoln for a couple of days. You'd then 1.5 - 2 days to wend your way back to Heathrow.

Thanks for the suggestions janisi. Now I have something to look more closely at. I have no idea which parts of Wales are " must see " but your itinerary looks leisurely enough.

Wales is a big place and there is lots to see in every corner of the country. But w/ a short visit like yours I'd stick to North Wales and the bit of pretty countryside along the border between England and Wales. You could stay one night near Hereford or Hay-on-Wye. The up to North Wales for mountains, amazing castles, seashore for 3 days. Then visit Chester (in England near N Wales) enroute across to Lincoln for the next 2 days.
