Help with left luggage at Heidelberg

Hoping someone can help. We are thinking about stopping in Heidelberg, 4-5 hours early Dec to see Xmas market. I can see luggage storage on station map. I know there are lockers.
(Eelway.com is not useful here)
Have posted and read on other forums but would like to know
1. Are lockers large enough for airline checked luggage size?
2. Are there enough lockers that it is unlikely they would all be full?
thanks in advance

Hi susan4, there are definitely lockers (Schliessfächer) of a size that will store your luggage at the station. They have to be suitable for train passengers who have luggage themselves. I think it would be awfully bad luck if you missed out because they were all full (meaning, I am sure they won't all be full). You can store your luggage for up to 72 hours.

I also found two services that say they store your luggage in areas around the city (shops, hotels, etc)

If it were me I think I'd just opt for the lockers at the station, but this at least gives you another alternative. There are also lockers at the zoo, for which you need a euro coin as a deposit.

Luggage Storage under renovation

Just a heads up that the luggage storage at the Heidelberg Hpf station is closed currently for renovation. Visited on 4/24/24

There is not luggage lockers at the Heidelberg Castle/palace or at the funicular station. We ended up wheeling our luggage around all day between sights.
