Hilton in Paris

Has anyone stayed at the Hilton next the tower?

My husband stayed there last year for business and did not like it. His room was dirty, the walls were paper thin and the service was lackluster. Also, the location is not as nice as you'd think. Although technically it is *near* the Eiffel Tower, that specific area is a bunch of office blocks and nondescript buildings. Unless you have a business reason to be in the hotel, I'd look elsewhere.
BTilke (Brussels)

I've stayed at the Hilton and think its an adequate choice. I found the rooms large and comfortable, although they are a bit dated and could stand to be refurbished. Its a typical Hilton, with the amenities that you would expect. If you stay there, try to get a rate that includes breakfast, since they have a very good hot buffet breakfast available in the mornings. If you book a room facing the front of the hotel, you will have a view of the Eiffel Tower, which is about a 5 minute walk from the hotel.

The neighborhood is largely upscale and residential, so its pretty quiet in the evenings. You're about a 5 minute walk from the nearest metro station, Bir-Hakiem, and a little closer to the Champ-du-Mars RER station, so tranportation is good. You're also a block from the river. Most major attractions are a little out of walking distance unless you're ambitious.

If you're looking for a central location and a Parisian feel, you can do better in terms of hotels in the 1st or 6th. If you're more comfortable with a larger , chain-type hotel, the Hilton is fine.

We stayed there a few months ago. Room was a little small but ok and we were upgraded to their executive floor. There are many other Hiltons that are nicer. Our view was great, ask for view of tower to see tower light show. We liked the location and walked to everything from that location. Service was good. We had a great dinner in the hotel restuarant.

Thanks,

We are staying there for free, so I guess I can't be to picky. I am also a top tier memember with Hilton, so I usually get a suit or a nice room. Thanks for the input.

Michael

I am diamond too and I stayed for free. We went through the Hilton Honors desk at the hotel for check-in and that was the best they would do. They told me that their upgrades for diamonds are just to the executive floor level (not to suites). The first room they showed us was a complete disapointment, so we asked for a different one. We had to wait for about 30 minutes and the next one was only slightly better (small room with a King, considered their delux). They had suites but not for HHonor diamonds. I know what you mean regarding our upgrades....I was surprised with the Paris Hilton. I hope you have better luck than I did.

I stayed there on my honeymoon a couple of years ago. As others have mentioned it is not the finest hotel in Paris, but for free it is not bad. The location was not as close to a metro stop as I usually like and not very close to a lot of restaurants either. The room was a little dated, but large and quiet. The breakfast buffet was great!

While we normally stay at Hilton Hotels, using our Hilton Honors points, I preferred our second stay at the Best Western Trocadero (believe it or not!). This hotel is not "quaint" either, but the location was terrific -- right in the midst of good restaurants and across the street from the metro. It was a short walk through the Trocadero and down the hill to the Eiffel Tower, which we could see from our room.

If you are already committed to the Paris Hilton, then don't let us discourage you. The hotel is acceptable and you will love Paris!
