Hello all!<BR><BR>I'm planning a trip for my wife and I for New Years. I'm deciding between the two hotels fleurie, ABBAYE or Aubusson in the 6th. Would one be better than the other because we're traveling in the winter? Which one has the better lobby and close to cafe's to hangout? I know they are both highly rated but, I'm interested in standard room size and quaintness. <BR><BR>Appreciate all suggestions and helpful info.<BR><BR>Fletch

I haven't been to the Fleurie but I believe that the Abbaye and Aubusson are a little nicer and more expensive.<BR>If I had the choice of the the two-I would go for the Aubusson, I love the neighborhood. The Abbaye is just a little farther away but still a lovely hotel. <BR>Reading your post again, you say the Two hotels? The Fleurie is a hotel also on rue Gregoire de Tour..is that part of your choice?<BR>The Aubusson is closer to the Seine, and the Blvd St Germain. With that comes all the night life, shopping and cafes and restaurants.<BR>The Abbaye is a few blocks past the Blvd St Germain. There are still plenty of shops and restaurants in the vicinity.<BR>They are both charming hotels, the rooms might be smaller in the Aubusson.<BR>Jill

Hi: I stayed in a deluxe room (#34) at the Hotel de Fleurie in 1999, I think it would be considered a large room by european standards. The hotel staff is helpful, but not overly so. When I was there the breakfast was extra (it's included in the room rate at the de l'Abbaye). Also, My wife stayed at the de Fleurie in 1997 in one of their standard rooms while on business in Paris, I wasn't with her, but she said the room was very small. However, that may not be true of all their standard rooms. We're staying (the 1st time) at the de l'Abbaye this fall and from all reports (Fodors and others) the standard rooms are nicely appointed, but small(it's a relative term)and the breakfast is included (again, if that is important to you)in the rate. The de Fleurie is closer to the "action" and the de l'Abbaye a little farther away but closer to the rue du Cherche-Midi. Good luck...

I stayed at the Aubusson at the end of 2000. I loved it. However, we had a superior room and my impression from other people's comments is that those are significantly larger than the standard rooms.<BR><BR>I thought the decor charming as well as modern and efficient, the front desk staff helpful if not overly friendly, the location excellent, and the neighborhood great for exploring the left bank. Rue Dauphine can have a little noise from car horns on weekday mornings, but it is a small street so there is no roar of traffic. If you want no noise at all, ask for a room facing the rear.<BR><BR>I have a file on Paris; if you'd like to see it,email me.<BR>

Dear Fletch;<BR>ditto for the positive comments on the d'Aubusson; the superior rooms are well worth the x-tra money.<BR>I have also stayed at the Flurie and the superior rooms are well aboove average for a 3 star hotel; in Paris.<BR><BR>The d'Aubusson is great location really you can not go wrong .<BR>I have seen some specials for the d' Aubusson on Expedia and hotels.com you might want to check out those sites; also I have a good conection if you want the 800# email me and I'll send it to you.<BR>Viva la France<BR>Sherri
