Hotels in Positano and Capri

We are in the beginning of plan our honeymoon and we need some advice on hotels....

I'm looking at Buca di Bacco or Covo dei Saraceni in Postiano and La Mamela or Caesar Augustus in Capri.

We would like something quiet , in walking distance to town, a great view and a pool at one or both locations.

Can anyone help? Any other suggestions we also be greatly appreciated. Our price range is around $300 a night.

We stayed at the Hotel Villa Franca in Positano. Beautiful hotel with a swimming pool on top of the roof. We also celebrated our one year anniversary at the Hotel Caesar Augustus in Anacapri. I can't say enough about that hotel, it was beautiful and very romantic. They have this amazing pool called the infinity pool. If you mention that you're on your honeymoon, they give you %10 off your hotel bill. Have a great time. Italy's the place to be!!

We stayed at L'Ancora in Positano which is a sister hotel of Covo dei Sarceni.
We visited Covo because we were allowed to use their pool. I did not see their rooms but assuming that they are as nice as L'Ancora's rooms, I would choose Covo in a hearbeat. However, if you want something quiet, you might be better off staying at L'Ancora instead because Covo is right near the beach and the boating dock, whereas L'Ancora is higher up, giving you more peace and quiet and also providing a better view. It is still walking distance to the main square (only 50 steps or so). We were there in Sept. so we did not need to use the pool because we swam in the sea but you can always use the pool in Covo if you are so inclined. Also, the rooms at L'Ancora are slightly cheaper, so that is a plus.

We recently stayed at the Hotel Mamela - it was very nice, large rooms, nice bath, the pool was on a terrace with a great view. Our room was around $200. It was easy walking distance into Capri but away from all the day tourists. We had checked out (online) the Caesar Augustus - it looked wonderful but a bit above our budget. However I think on their website they were promoting a deal of staying four nites and get the fifth nite free. Have a great honeymoon!

We loved the Covo dei Saraceni. I still remember my first view of the famous Positano hillside when open the shutters in my room. Breathtaking. Further, we had a wonderful sea bass dinner in the hotel restaurant.

mhunk-
We stayed at Mamela for our honeymoon in May and would recommend it in a heartbeat. The rooms are large, the views are spectacular, service is friendly, pool is gorgeous, and location can't be beat. It's on the outskirts of the center of town so you are still close to the action but far enough away to feel like you are a bit secluded. We looked at the Caesar Augustus but decided we'd rather stay in CapriTown rather than Anacapri and we are glad we did.

We stayed at L'Ancora in Positano and loved it. But it doesn't have its own pool. I've heard great things about Hotel Poseidon in Positano but not sure about the pool situation there. Positano is a magical place- especially for a honeymoon. My new hubby and I are already thinking about how to get back there for another trip!

We stayed at Hotel Poseidon for our anniversary. Loved it, beautiful pool, very good food (great breakfast), lovely large balconies with great views, and the best spa I have every used (and I have been to many). Get a massage or facial!

Does La Mamela have an email address or do I just have to call?

Hi, I just goot back from Italy last week, and stayed 4 nights at la Mamela, I can't recommend it highly enough, my only complaint is the sorry pillows they had, but I am a high maintance kinda' gal & luckly I brought one of my own.
The staff, rooms and location are fab! I got a great deal from dilos.com a sea view room for $200 the deals are rare but keep looking one will pop up.The best part of the hotel are the grounds and beautiful pool.
Stephina, at la Mamela is an absolute doll, she's a cross between Audrey Hepburn and Ingrid Bergman, absolutely stunning.
Stephina recommended 2 great restaurants,da'Gamma & Gigro I may be wrong on the spelling, but I will be posting an Italy trip report theis week-end, with all details.

Hi,
Just stayed at the Covo dei Saraceni on Sept. 20. My room was very large and of course had a balcony. I am planning my next trip to Italy in 18 months. I will stay again at the Covo. The views are brath taking. I did go look at San Pietro or something like that. Perfect for a honeymoon but probably very expensive.

we LOVED our stay at Villa Franca; just ask for a room w/ a good view of the sea (our bathroom window had a view; as well as bedroom window out to the balcony for drinks before dinner).

Do not eat dinner there, as we did one night; big disappointment.
Have a fabulous trip.

I stayed at the Hotel Marincanto. It was the nicest hotel that we ever stayed in. It is a four star that was recently renovated. It two hotels up from Le Sireneuse. I can't tell you how nice it is. RS recommends it!
