For those who are still waiting, I received confirmation of our Scavi tour on Thursday. I made the request 1/1/06 and the tour is for 4/21/06. I requested any date between 4/20-4/25. They stated that the site is closed 2/11, 4/13-4/19, 5/1, 5/26, 6/15, 6/29, 8/13-8/16, 11/1-11/2, 12/8, 12/24-12/27, and 12/31/06. I know they do not make negative responses, so if your request was during any of those days, I think you can expect not to get a response.

Congratulations on your Scavi tour confirmation. I know the sense of relief, as we are taking the tour in March.

The black out dates will be helpful to others attempting to make reservations.

Do a search in the search field and you will get lots of info. Sounds like a must do.

rbnwdln : 'scavi' is just the Italian word for excavations; but on this website people always use it to mean the tour of the excavations under St Peter's basilica in Rome. (As if there aren't any other excavations in Italy !!)

I had good news today - requested tickets on 1/16 for any time between 2/25-3/6, and received the reservation today, 2 weeks after the request.
