Can't see that anyone else mentioned it but you can also get great deals at www.lastminute.com, although you may have to wait closer to the date to get the best deal. But if you check now you'll see the kinds of deals different hotels are offering.

Erin: Just wanted to let you know that I booked my brother's family of 4 into a quad room at the KMH for early November for 70GBP per night for the room. THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE TIP!! This is truly an extraodinary deal--the best I've seen in my many years of traveling to London.

By the way, if you wish to book a quad room it asks you to call a special phone number instead of booking over the Web, but the number kept coming back as no good, so I booked the room on the Web anyway, though I could only put in 2 people. It accepted the quad request and the confirmation (immediate) also noted it.

Thanks again!

hi mel,

your welcome! I felt the same way about the deal. the more I looked at it, the hotel at that rate..the location....it is an absolute steal even for a single...but especially for a quad room.

if you still want to verify for the 4, I will tell you that the email to the main reservations does work because i had a question about something and they came back within 24 hours.

I am so excited about this and hope that it works out to be a great one for all of us!

glad to have helped!

hi jo ann,

above in one of my posts I listed a web address of an eopinion whereby someone reviewed this hotel and location. I just think we have just stumbled over a good deal?

I will be honest and say I do not use the fodors hotel recommendations. It's just not very comprehensive. I wish we had more ability to add hotels as we find them and stay in them.

I have booked this deal myself and hope it will turn out well.

I looked up the St. Giles recently - only 79 pounds a night for a double (slightly more than your cap) but it looks quite nice and is very close to Tottingham Court tube - Bedford Avenue. (close to Bedford Square).

Last year about this time I stayed at myhotelbloomsbury, on Bedford Square, with a friend of mine and we liked the location (nice hotel too but more than a bit above your range).

www.stgiles.com

It's a good location, too. maybe a 20 minute walk to the start of the madness of Leicester Square/Covent Garden... or one tube stop.

beth

We have booked at the Blair Victoria for June. It is near Victoria Station & was reasonably priced with breakfast. We found it via SmoothHounds.Back in 1990 we stayed at the Eccleston & liked the Victoria area for convenience. Does anyone know anything about the Blair Victoria?

I recently stayed at the Drury Lane Moat House. They claim it's a 4 star hotel, but decor and service are more like a 2 star. The window wouldn't shut and cold air was blowing in; the sheets had hugh holes in them, and the curtain had a 3 inch slit in it. Heat is timed to only work between 6 pm and midnight, which doesn't help when cold air is blowing in. The front desk didn't answer the phone, even though 2 clerks were there with no customers. It's also difficult to find, especially at night. They claimed they didn't have a room I could move to.
Last year I stayed at the St Giles, and had no complaints. I'll definitely stay there in the future.

KKing- My husband and iare taking our first trip to the UK this year too. We have Booked a two bedroom two bathroom apartment from July 18-25 at Canary Wharf. The couple we were travelling with had to cancel, so now we're looking to share the space. Your cost for the week would be 420 GBP (70 per night) You can check it out at www.frasersr.com.sg Let me know if you're interested.

Check out the current copy of Frommer's Budget Travel magazine for a great article on good cheaper hotels in London. Several good choices are listed with lots of information about the hotel and the area around it.
