Info on new Venice Card for 30+ages
Hi, I tried to find information on yesterday's release of the Venice card at www.venicecard.it and with my limited Italian knowledge can not seem to understand the benefits over the 1 day stay to 3 day stay. Also, do you need this card to use public washrooms? Last time I visited Venice, they excepted tips to use these facilities. Anyone with Italian language knowledge that can fill me in?

Till last week (have no idea if this has changed), a 1/3-day transportation pass cost Euro 9.30/18. With the new Venice card this has increased to Euro 11/23. On the other hand, onde gets the benefit of "free" toilet use (actually one would be paying approx Euro 1.70 per day).

Regarding the Orange Pass, it really depends on which museums one plans to use. As a reference, the cost of individual passes is the following:

a) Piazza San Marco Museums (Palazzo Ducale, Museo Correr, Museo Archeologico Nazionale, Biblioteca Marciana) = Euro 9.50

b) Area del Setecento Museums (Cá Rezzonico, Museo Mocenigno, Casa di Goldoni) = Euro 8

c) Islands Museums (Museo del Vetro, Museo del Merletto) = Euro 6

Once the difference between the Blue and Orange passes is Euro 15/19, respectively, for the 1/3 day passes, IMO it hardly justifies from a cost point of view. Not having to stand on lines to buy tickets would be a big plus, though.

For the "average" 3-day visitor to Venice I'd recommend buying:

a) a 3-day vaporetto pass - Euro 18
b) Piazza San Marco Museum Pass - Euro 9.50

Once this totals Euro 27.50, one would be saving Euro 14.50 (compared to the 3-day Orange Pass) which would be more than enough to pay for toilets and/or an extra museum.

Adding the normal pass for ALL the nine museums considered (which costs E$ 15.50) to the 3-day vaporetto pass (E$ 18), totals E$ 33.50. This is E$ 7.50 less than the 3-day orange pass. Unless you're hit with a diarrea, there's no way you'll spend that much in toilets
