Ireland: Grey Gables B&B

Morning everyone. Has anyone ever stayed at Grey Gables B&B in Ennis? We were thinking of using it as a base for a couple days during our trip. Looked nice and also looked to be within good walking distance to pubs. Yay pubs! Let me know what you think, talk to you all later.

Mike, is this where you wound up staying in Ennis? I've contacted them and they have availability for our night in Ennis (which I mentioned to you on your trip report thread). But I'm reluctant to commit yet.

First of all, we'd have to get two rooms for our family of four. Secondly, they don't take credit cards. I'm willing to be flexible on these two things if I have to. But want to be sure that I don't have better options.

If you did stay there, I'd love to hear what you thought. Is it close to the pubs, etc.?

One other question while I'm at it! You recommended Cruise's Pub. (And I've since seen it recommended elsewhere as well.) This probably is sort of an unfair thing to ask you as I don't think it applied to your situation. But, from what you saw when you were there, do you think we'd have a problem taking our 16 year old there for the music? He's a big kid, looks older than he is. And I noticed it's also a restaurant. So I'm hoping we'd be able to go eat and stay for the music.

Thanks, Mike.

CAPH52:
My family and I spent two nights in Ennis in May 2004. We stayed at the Old Ground Hotel. It is not a B&B but it is in the center of town and allows walking to any of the pubs or restaurants. In fact, the Poet's Corner Pub is in the hotel. We relaxed there one night with some stout and pub grub. It has been renovated and looks great. Enjoy your trip.

Thanks, d1carter. We may have to consider a hotel.

Grey Gables is very nice. I think you won't regret it. The showers are tiny, but it is very close to everyhting and the owner is very nice and accomidating. Cruises is great! I think your son will be able to get in, just don't have him order any beer, that's all.

Thanks, Mike. The other day someone pulled up your trip report and I noticed you'd mentioned Grey Gables in it. Don't know how I missed that the first time! Except I guess I must have read the trip report before I started looking for a B&B.

Anyway, thanks for responding and letting me know that you liked it. And thanks for your response about Cruises. I'm hoping to keep him from ordering beer anywhere for another 4 1/2 years. Good luck with that when he starts college, right?!
