mike,
a few years ago, i took the tgv from paris to lausanne (maybe about 3 hours?), stayed the night there (beautiful little city on lake geneva), then took overnight train from lausanne to venice (i don't think it took more than 8-9 hours?). if you have an extra day to spare, an overnight stop between paris and venice could at least break up the trip into 2 shorter trips.
good luck and happy travels!

Hi Mike

Also try Air France's website on Wed's -- the French version. They have specials that are good only for that day (but flights in the future). In other words, if you look Thurs, they're gone.
You'd most likely have to call them in France to order, however everyone I've talked to at Air France speaks English well. And they have tramendous bargains -- incredible.

I've not tried this from the states, so this is just a "what the heck, give it a shot" suggestion -- and tomorrow is Wed!

And Nice? No real "must sees", markets, beach, some museums, but do take a 1/2 day and visit Monte Carlo (20min train from Nice).
