Possibly twitter/texting afficionados who are unable to adapt to other media? Or don't see why they should, forgetting that the primary reason for spelling and grammar is to be clearly and easily understood, especially when you need an answer to a question. We're lucky people use words instead of "U" and "2".

In my world, if you can "cab" somewhere, you can "tube" somewhere. Why anyone cares or is upset at this usage...well, that's another story.

Hey should I tube then train to holiday in Scotland ?

If you wish to make English easier I can help but when I do no body understands me so I guess it makes me cringe to see that locals have the right to alter their language.

Since we are at it the French have a wonderful expression which is chier dans le tube that I have never fully understood but that I happily use. Not yet literally but when I am in London I always use the expression a lot more.

There is also other declinations like chier dans la colle but that is not the topic.

it's "to take a cab" though I guess "take an uber" though maybe there are people who "uber"!

New Yorkers cab it all the time. It's been a verb for years. "We cabbed it to Brooklyn." "No point in cabbing it, it's quicker to walk." "Might as well cab it since there are 4 of us."
