lake Maggiore to geneva
I am taking a holiday in Lake Maggiore (Italian part) and then by train to Geneva. I would like to stop en route for a couple of nights....any suggestions please for hotels and places bearing in mind no car
Is it possible to use Lake Geneva to travel one way too.
Thanks

Hi farnboroughcouple,
The towns of Brig, Visp, Saas Fee, and Sion come to mind as great places to stop -- though I haven't personally been to any of them (been through Brig & Visp on the train & liked the atmosphere).
I don't understand your second question -- can you travel one way on Lake Geneva?? To where? Do you want to approach Geneva by ferry? It's a very long ride, something like 5 hours, between Montreux & Geneva. There is ferry service all along Lake Geneva with stops in Evian (France), Villeneuve, Montreux, Vevey, Lausanne, Morges, Nyon, Geneva (and more). Schedules at www.cgn.ch.
